We were delighted to be back at the fantastic Loxwood Joust Medieval Festival this past weekend, sharing traditional metalworking skills with visitors from across the country. Set in the beautiful Sussex countryside, Loxwood Joust is one of the UK’s premier medieval events, bringing history to life through combat displays, living history encampments, crafts, music, and hands-on experiences.
This year, Steelmaiden (Annie Rennie) is running interactive workshops where visitors can discover the art and craftsmanship behind medieval metalworking. Throughout the festival, participants have the opportunity to try their hand at:
- Chainmail making
- Copper bowl forming
- Copper leaf folding
These workshops give people a chance to experience traditional techniques and gain an appreciation for the skill and patience required by historical craftspeople.
We were especially honoured this weekend when ITV Meridian News visited the festival and stopped by our workshop. Their feature included a short interview with Anna, highlighting the importance of preserving and sharing traditional heritage crafts with modern audiences.
